Its' like Santa's Workshop!

Our little workshop elves have been super busy making some rather fabulous Giant Eye Maskprops for ever popular Masquerade Ball themed events.  They’ve been getting groovy with glitter and sparkly sequins that our warehouse is definitely looking more like Santa’s workshop by the day.  These 3D effect Eye Masks are wonderful stage props, entrance props or for posing for your photo in front of. Available in gold, red and purple at the minute, we’ve a couple more in the pipeline, so watch this space.

This weekend just gone we went 007 mad with our striking James Bond backdrops and silhouette panels out and about all over the country.  We’ve been very busy with our glamorous Hollywood theme lately too – a hugely popular choice this year! We’ve designed some brand spanking new table centre pieces for this theme, some Film Reels – which, even if we do say so, look very impressive!! Our backdrops have been shipped out all over, and the Hollywood Film Reels are loved by all, making for super entrances or as an all in one backdrop.

Today the team are off down to the South with several vans full to the brim of Christmas Party Kit – we’re bringing Bollywood to Slough tonight and then having one big 007 extravaganza all over London tomorrow. A total of 18 events this weekend alone – all the juicy gossip on next weeks’ blog!

Amongst all the Christmas madness, we are plotting next years’ big hitters and theme trends.  We’re predicting Rio Carnival is going to be HUGEEEE! Look out for information on our website on this new theme – we have loads of great props heading your way, from Rio themed draping, lighting and of course, I’m sure our brand new Giant Eye Masks will fit in rather well too.

A Magical Winter Wonderland!

We have been super busy this weekend just gone, providing magical Winter Wonderland theming for a huge event for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.  Draping on a HUGE scale and clever lighting allowed us to transform the sports hall and vast reception area at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre into an unrecognisable space.

The rig began on Friday morning where we installed a White Draped Tunnel from reception to the main sports hall…the brief was to create an intimate, enclosed walkway for guests to filter through to dinner.  We used drape along all walls and ceiling, up-lit it in an icy blue wash and finished it off with a few Winter Forest Backdrops - it looked fantastic.

The drapes that we hung in the reception area were installed on the day of the event, on Saturday – metres and metres (and many more metres) hung from a 6 metre height and covering all of the reception area features, made for a wonderful first impression as guests arrived.  Using Moving Head Lights, we projected large snowflakes that spread over the walls and ceiling, creating that extra depth needed to transform the space.  

The main dining room was where we could have a bit of a play using a great lighting technique that we simply love.  We call it the ‘Mirror Ball Effect’ – using Mirror Balls and huge beams of light, the effect of light sprinkled over the walls and floor is simply stunning – we can’t really describe it – take a look at this picture and you’ll see what we mean…

A loooooong shift for the team with a 6.30am finish – but so worthwhile and a great event to be a part of!   With guest appearances from ‘Scouting for Girls’, this prestigious event was a great success for a fantastic charity.

Brand new props!

This weekend has seen us break out the Bond theming once again! We've got some great new feature backdrops sporting the silhouette of Daniel Craig and Sean Connery and our huge, stunning Golden Gun Props are now complete and standing proud in our warehouse! They’ll be off on a few different events over the coming months so keep your eyes peeled for piccies!

We've also been adding to our stock of Giant Candy Cane Props and quirky Toadstool Seating, expanding our range of Willy Wonka props and Alice in Wonderland theming.

We've designed and built some stunning Eye Masks too for our Masquerade Ball themed events. Available at the moment in Gold or Purple, these glittering props are sure to set the scene! Why not add in a pair of our great Golden Palm Trees on the entrance or up on stage at your Masquerade Ball too – another fabulous addition to our already bulging warehouse!

 

The 1920’s era is still proving popular over the festive period and many of our ever growing range of props fit perfectly with this theme.  Art Deco Gold Palm Trees, Great Gatsby and Roaring 20’s Feature Backdrops, teamed with our existing Draped Entrances, Gold Pillars and huge stage backdrops will make for a glamorous, decadent and simply fabulous Great Gatsby themed ball.

Themed Events and Christmas Parties!

We’ve been involved in many events in recent weeks including several theme nights, some charity nights and some basic prop hire.  Each individual event gets our full attention and extra little touches to make our customers LOVE their event!

We were part of a wonderful event a couple of weeks ago – think American Diner crossed with 1950’s Hollywood Glamour.  Many of our props got pride of place in entrance ways, on stage areas and generally scattered here, there and everywhere.  Our fab range of Hollywood backdrops provided great photo opportunities for guests and cool lighting effects brought everything to life.

We provided some winter themed props at the Sheffield Hospitality Awards last week which were used to create a wintery photo area for their guests.  A little early to be talking about Winter Wonderlands you might be thinking – well no, not really! Those Stalagmites have been brushed off, the Narnia Wardrobe prop has been dusted down and our magnificent Ice Palace Entrance Archway has had the once over. All our WinterWonderland props and theming are ready for action for trips out all over the UK in the coming months.

This weekend just gone we partook in a HUGE event for 6000 guests in London.  A (very) early Christmas Party for a well-known phone company saw us pile the van roof high and full to the back with our Fun Casino Tables.  A total of 27 staff for our bit only ensured the guests could gamble away ‘til their hearts content.  The whole event consisted of a massive range of entertainment, from Dodgems to Helter Skelters and everything in between.  A great event – big old clean up still going on!

So, we’re full on now, ready for the Christmas madness – we can’t wait to get stuck into the upcoming events over the festive season!

Christmas Party Night Ideas!

We have recently been traveling far and wide delivering some truly fabulous events. Our 007 Secret Agent theme and has been flying out and is proving very popular with all our guests, they have been entertained by our range of fun casino’s and our 6m Secret Agent backdrop has been a huge hit in many a photo opportunity area.  This weekend coming, our 007 theming is out in force again and we’re also treating our 007 Stunt Team to a little outing too!! Our 5 man Stunt Team and Daniel Craig Look-a-Like will be part of a fantastic event on Friday night which we’re really looking forward to – watch this space for updates on this one!

The summer may be over, but do not despair because that only means only one thing. Christmas is just round the corner and we already have a heap of bookings for clients’ festive celebrations. Christmas Party Venues!

Last week we did a dry run for an event we are putting on in December.  The venue wanted to showcase themselves to prospective clients and asked us if we could showcase the venue dressing we are putting in for their Christmas party nights – we of course obliged!

They are having a 1920’s / Great Gatsby theme for their group Christmas Party Nights – it looks glitzy, glamorous and this theme is very cool right now! Guests will be greeted with themed cocktails on arrival, all decoratively laid out on whiskey barrels, the theming / room dressing will tell the tale of 1920’s Manhattan and the great Band and Casino Tables will keep guests entertained all night long.

Having a showcase is a great way of getting new businesses interested in your venue and a great way of taking extra Christmas Party bookings in advance.  In this economic climate, customers are looking for more unusual and exciting things to set them apart from the norm so the more visual and creative you can be the better! Who doesn’t like to know what they’re getting, right?!

Steam Punk Themed Event!

We’ve been developing a new theme here at SCP HQ so here’s a quick insight to the details.

We got an enquiry recently for a Steam Punk themed event – so (probably like you) we got straight onto the wonders of Google to find out exactly what this could be.  It seemed to us that it is a good old mix up of Sci-Fi inspired, Steam Powered Machinery set in the Wild West of the 19^th Century. The more we looked into it the more we loved it!  We’re planning a whole range of new props for this theme, so watch this space.

Meanwhile, our 1920’s theme is still high up in the popularity stakes – this theme is great as there are lots of twists and turns that enable you and us to use our creativity.  There is the glamorous, Roaring 20’s with beautiful Flapper Girls and Art Deco theming; this then links nicely in with 1920’s Aviation – extremely rich, gilded art deco.  The other part of the 1920’s is the Prohibition side of things – Gangsters and Molls and Speakeasy’s! Lots to think about and lots to choose from for this fabulous and flexible theme!
