Bespoke Conference Set and Evening Team Build

Last week we were back in the South of England, this time in Reading.  A daytime conference that then transformed into an evening Team Build was the plan for the day! Many a month we have been preparing for this event as most of the equipment and the style of the two event parts were bespoke.  Firstly, we designed and built a custom stage set to fit with the venues unique layout, complete with branded skins and matching furniture.  Our lighting was programmed to compliment the stage set and after a detailed morning run through we were ready to rock by the start of the conference.

The evening team build was a complete bespoke build from start to finish allowing us to be creative and really go to town on the look and finish of the event. The Gameshow we decided upon in the end was a well-known intense TV quiz show which in the end turned out to be a great success on the night! We designed the set so that it was just the skins that needed changing in between daytime and evening so we created a bespoke backdrop to set the gameshow scene.  We built the gameshow set furniture and designed and build the entire gameshow on-screen graphics – a massive task that took some head scratching to figure out the complicated game logistics! The evening part of the event went down extremely well, an interactive, fun and unique team building experience and a real fun event for our team to work on. We’re already thinking about some options and ideas for next year!

A most fabulous Masquerade Ball!

A trip to Guildford earlier in May allowed us to dazzle with our creative flair at a rather glitzy Masquerade Ball.  The event, held at G Live in Guildford chose the Masquerade Ball in contrast to the 007 themed event that we provided last year.  We went bigger and better with a gorgeous Ceiling Hung Fairy Light Canopy, Table Pin Spots and Moving Lights to add movement, effect and depth to the event.  On top of this themed props such as our super sparkly and very effective Masquerade Eye Masks and brand new Illuminated Crystal Chandelier Table Centre Pieces stole the show and added decadence to the already great looking space.

Our fabulous Masquerade Living Statues were on hand to welcome guests and pose for photos – always a good start to any event.  This gorgeous pair were a talking point all night.  The client for this event had a few different Meet and Greet acts to choose from for this theme such as our Black & White Masquerade Stilt Walkers, Contact Jugglers and Venetian Living Statues.

This week we’ve been talking about nothing but Christmas 2015 – seems like ages away yet, but dates are already filling up fast! The back end of the year is looking like a great range of themes so far with a Traditional Fairground, a Great Gatsby, a Winter Ball and a glitzy 25^th Birthday celebration amongst others.
Next week, we are back down in the South of England with a bespoke conference set and evening team build! Can’t wait for this one – after last years, it’s sure to be cracking!

Conferencing and Award Ceremonies!

It’s been a busy few weeks here at SCP especially for conference and corporate dinner side of things.  You’ll notice from a recent news article on the home page of our website that we recently produced a fabulous dinner at the University of Lancaster. From dressing the dinner tables to installing a full ceiling hung lighting rig, our team ensured that the evening dinner / conference went off without a hitch.

We mainly talk about the stunning themed events that we’ve been planning and producing, so much so, that many of you may not even know that we are capable of much, much more – we have an incredible range of in house theming as you know, but alongside this we have a whole technical team and range of kit just raring to head out and put together the next big show.  This allows us to be a strong competitor in the Conference and Awards Dinner market – from small scale annual meetings for 100 to large corporate dinners and awards for 1000+ we can create stunning bespoke sets, illuminate with fabulous lighting effects and control the whole event so it runs seamlessly and you, as a company you can portray your message.  We can of course theme up your event as well – we are theming specialists after all!!

We have a unique system for designing and creating bespoke stage sets for conferences, dinners etc. – sleek and sophisticated and fully customisable! We have an upcoming event in May where we have designed a stage set for the daytime conference and then we whip off the skin and replace it with a much glitzier evening set. All very quick and easy and the effects are just flawless! Will report back on this event soon!

Back to Guernsey!

We’ve produced some wonderful events over the past couple of weeks. Our talented performers have been around a bit too, providing a wide range of entertainment at all sorts of parties, launches and events.  If you were browsing the Metro Centre in Newcastle over the past weekend you may have caught a glimpse of our very glamorous Feather Show Girls aiding the launch of a brand new store!

Also this weekend, loaded with a van full of 007 themed props – our team headed to the small island that is Guernsey! We’ve attended a few events in the Channel Islands and it is always a pleasure – this one was particularly great with one of our all-time fave themes! We provided all the dressing for this super corporate bash, from the linen on the tables to the 007 themed backdrop for the photo opportunity! We’ve had some mega feedback too…

I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to you and your team for all the work you put into making our Annual Ball a HUGE success.

A five day trip (in fact, the guys still aren’t back yet!), but so worth it! 

Heading back a couple of weeks and back to our fabulous range of entertainment – we provided a whole heap of Western themed entertainment in Blackpool. Our Cowgirls and Line Dance Caller really got the night in full swing and the guests in high spirits, so much so the old Western theme is now their new favourite! Yeeeehaa!  On the same night, a last minute query sent our Stilt Walking Geisha Girls all the way to London to help with a Chinese New Year themed party.  These gorgeous girls are just perfect for any oriental themed ball.

 

We’ve got some great bespoke events in the pipeline which we can’t wait to tell you about so watch this space!! But in the meantime, we’re off on Arabian and more Western travels this week – a great mix of theming!

Bespoke eventing...

Many of you probably know us for the whacky themes that we offer, ranging from the super crackers like our Willy Wonka parties to the more sophisticated and elegant Hollywood and Great Gatsby themed events.

What some of you may not know is that we also offer a bespoke service and can create event themes, conference sets, props or backdrops to suit your particular ideas! This week we transformed a very English, English country house into an all-out American Rock themed event for a conference with a twist, produced for one of our corporate clients. Big sound, big lights, and even bigger personalities took to the stage to perform their very own original tracks. We turned complete novices without any experience of playing, singing, or writing music into something that sort of resembled a band, performing live on stage, all within 3 hours! Our ears and heads are still recovering but a great night had by all! This event required the design and build of some unique backdrops plus a themed stage set to suit their needs. A great challenge that had us all getting our thinking caps on.

Client request is how many of our props have come to be built.  Our Ice Palace Entrance Archway for example (perfect for a Winter Wonderland Themed Christmas Party!!) was built a few years back for a particular client – a great prop that we’ve been able to use over and over again!

Whatever the request, our workshop guys are a talented team that can pull together exciting and great looking props! Event Tips and Trends for 2015

This coming year is bound to see new trends coming through on the themed events scene.  As always, when a new film is released the matching theme automatically jumps to the top of the popularity pile.  In 2013 when Skyfall came into cinemas, our Secret Agent themed events went absolutely crazy so it’s only natural to think that in October / November 2015 when the brand spanking new James Bond film is released, this theme will come around once more – we love it, all that glamour!

This year also sees a remake of the classic Cinderella – a new one to us, but we can do allsorts from Giant Shoe Props to our gorgeous fancy dancers that will really make any Cinderella themed event come to life.

 

 

A new Alice in Wonderland film is also hitting the big screens so we’re waiting in anticipation for this one – we already have a whole heap of Alice in Wonderland theming and entertainment options guaranteed to transform your event – watch this space for brand new props too – we’re always expanding!

 

 

We couldn’t really pass Awards Season by without mentioning the Hollywood theme that is always a popular choice, but even more so at this time of year. What with the upcoming Academy Awards in less than a month, it’s the perfect timing to host your very own Hollywood Awards Night. From Giant Hollywood Letters to Clapper Board Table Centres we have everything you need to make your guests feel like VIPs.

Gatsby of Great!

It’s been a while since we dedicated one of our blogs to a particular theme so that’s what we thought we’d do today! With so many great themes to choose from, this is always quite a task…SO, let’s go with The Great Gatsby! This glittering theme is one to really get everyone involved with – full of glamour and elegance!

Prop wise, we have a warehouse packed full of delights to create an extravagant affair! Our Art Deco Golden Palm Trees are a popular choice – a great prop for theming up an entrance way, stage area or just to create a simple photo opportunity for guests.  Tip: they work REALLY well with our Black & Gold Draped Entrance!

Our range of 1920’s themed backdrops add that extra something too – with Art Deco Silhouette backdrops to funky City Scape Skylines there is sure to be a backdrop to suit.  This is a stage set we produced recently – the theme was 1920’s with a New York twist, hence the Statue of Liberty Prop – we think this works really well!

Our Great Gatsby entertainment options will leave you spoilt for choice – the Gatsby Girls are a must have especially! Have them meet and greet your guests in stunning White Feathers with a quick change into fancy Flapper Dresses to perform a lively Charleston and really get the party started! January 2015

The start of January has seen us explore a range of different themes and entertainment options for all sorts of events.  We’ve provided props for a Willy Wonka themed birthday party, some Parisian theming for a corporate event and even some Air Hostesses Meet and Greet performers for a launch event.

 

 

Our Western props we’re out in force a couple of weeks ago, with everybody’s favourite Bucking Bronco leading the way in the entertainment stakes.  Our completely unique Wild West backdrop stole the show and provided the perfect photo opportunity for the guests. This backdrop was hand-painted in our warehouse a few years back and has proved popular ever since.  A real authentic looking scene setter for any Wild West themed party.

 

 

This weekend just gone saw us at lots of lovely venues all over the UK delivering props and making people smile.  We sent some quirky seating and Alice in Wonderland themed props down to Uxbridge to be joined by our gorgeous Alice on Stilts walkabout character.  We also packed up a load of Wonka themed props for an event in Leamington Spa and some winter theming for a belated Christmas party in Sheffield.

This weekend we’ve a range of themes heading out too – some of our Gorgeous Gatsby Girls are off to Watford whilst the others are donning magnificent Masquerade costumes and heading down to London to entertain at a corporate party. Entertainment galore amongst many a themed prop and table centre piece. 

This weekend, we are also as far south as Southampton with some great Frozen themed props and room dressing for a Birthday Party. Awaiting (im)patiently for some pictures from this one so we can show you lovely lot some of our new props that are perfect for Frozen, Winter and Narnia themed events #thinkingaboutChristmasalready…..

Soaring into 2015!

Not entirely sure where 2014 went and now we seem to be headlong into 2015 – madness! Steel City Promotions would like to wish everyone a humongous Happy New Year – here’s to success and happiness over the coming year!

Now, a little flashback to the last few weeks of 2014 and what we got up to throughout the Christmas Party Season.  We left you all anticipating Winter Wonderlands, Great Gatsbys and 80’s themed entertainment – well let me tell you, these events did not disappoint and we soared through December in high Festive Spirits! 

We hired in a classic A Team van to kick start a superb 80’s themed event we did on Barracks – the guest of honour was whizzed to the front doors of the venue in true VIP style and welcomed into illuminous, mirror ball, 80’s madness! Plenty of twinkling Black Star Cloth transformed the venue space from officer’s mess to glitzy Christmas Party and we had a score of 80’s entertainment lined up for the guests to enjoy. Try Retro Arcade Games, 80’s themed Dancers and a Night Fever style LED Dance Floor so they could party the night away. Scores of themed props and room dressing from our ever expanding warehouse really added to the theme.

A Narnia themed event at a large venue in Sheffield was just stunning from start to finish.  An ambiguous entrance was made using just our Narnia Wardrobe – closed up tight for guests to wonder what was through the doors following their drinks reception.  The doors opened as the call to dinner came and awestruck guests were lead through a magical wintery tunnel filled with white drape, snow flocked trees and traditional lamp posts. Once through the tunnel, they were met by our beautiful Ice Queen Stilt Walker, a dusting of snow and their setting for the evening.  We created a magnificent stage set with the use of our ‘Frozen’ Bridge and snow flocked trees and a unique photo opportunity for guests using Winter themed backdrops, lamp posts and yet more trees; and of course, what Narnia themed event would be complete without Aslan the Lion! The photo opportunity was a great idea inspired by the clients wish for a photo booth – however with close to 1000 guests, a photo booth just didn’t seem a viable option. With the photo area we created, guests could pile in on mass, pose with the props and there wouldn’t be a bottle neck of people waiting. An idea that really did go down a storm!
 

Another event that we really need to tell you about was a recent Arabian themed event that we produced from start to finish.  From the bespoke marquee build to the décor that brought the theme to life and the entertainment that rocked the night, this event was a huge success and one to be very proud of.  I can’t really elaborate much more than this however here’s a sneaky pic that will hopefully tickle your tastebuds and get you thinking about this years annual party, launch, ball or event.

So, ahead to 2015 – the trends are coming in fast already as we see 007 themed launches already being planned for the back end of the year when ‘Spectre’ is released. More on this soon…if you’re planning any kind of event of the coming months, let us know…I’m sure we can help!
