Props go to Hollywood!

There has been heaps going on at SCP HQ over the last couple of weeks!  Rather excitingly, last week we sent off some of our props down to Pinewood Studios. The drop team were completely star struck as they drove past Danny Boyles’ private parking space, the Skyfall stage and the underwater arena used for many a famous film shoot! The props we delivered were our two huge Circus Cannons which were designed and built for a run of Christmas Parties over December 2012.  They are away for a month long hire for filming, and will make their film debut in early 2014! Can’t say much more than that at the moment, but keep your peepers peeled for snippets of gossip on this exciting project!

This weekend just gone, we’ve been glamming it up for a regular client and their annual works party. In recent years they’ve had Hollywood and Wild West as their theme but this year, as it was their 60^th anniversary, they wanted more of a glitzy feel with lots of entertainment – cue, Steel City Promotions! Lots of lighting brought the venue to life and our illuminated features, in poseur tables and light pillars, created even more ambience.  Entertainment wise, we brought in the ever popular Spoof Paparazzi and had Mikey spinning his fire! Guests could gamble their way through the evening on the Casino Tables or bring out their inner child on the Giant Scalextric Track!  The room looked fantastic from all angles and everyone was able to dance the night away on our beautiful white Starlit Dance Floor!

After a measly few hours’ sleep on Saturday night, we were on the road again, early doors on Sunday morning ready to install a Catwalk rig for a fashion show.  The Moulin Rouge themed catwalk really added a glam element and a real pop of colour to the day!

Next week we have two ‘Space’ themed events down in Surrey – a twist on ‘Space’ using lots of lights and star cloth backdrops is how we are playing it –check back soon for information on this one!

Themed Room Dressing and Entertainment....

What a January!! Hollywood, Bonds, more Bonds, more Hollywood and a Roaring 1920’s thrown in to the mix! So, let me tell you about a great job we did last weekend for the Army Boys of Warminster…

An early start (knee deep in snow), an extremely full van and three eager guys headed off on the 5 hour trek to the South! After attending a site visit for this event before Christmas, we had a jolly good idea of what was needed to transform an everyday mess room into a glamorous James Bond extravaganza! We packed heaps of star cloth and lighting; we had gorgeous linen and themed table centres; and we had an abundance of great entertainment (although the show girls didn’t come on the back of the van – that would be weird!)

We went back to clear away at 7am on the Sunday morning as it was due to be a rather late finish to be greeted by a couple of hard-core party goers still at it!

So this weekend sees us back in the Wild West – a great theme that has been shelved for a while! There is definitely a trending element to the events world…last year we were all about the 007 (and its set to continue by the looks of it!) and this year is looking big for the fabulous Masquerade Ball! As things change, we’ll keep you updated on what’s popular and what’s up and coming!
